How I Can Help
Career Direction
& Clarity
When You’re Not Sure What’s Next... We Figure It Out Together

If you’re unsure which direction to take, feeling stuck, or just overwhelmed, we start by making sense of what matters to you. It's important to consider your interests, values, strengths, and goals.
That kind of self-reflection is important, not just to choose a path, but to choose one that actually fits you.
Job Search Strategy
& Positioning
When The Job Search Isn't Working... We Collaborate To Create Structure
Many people approach the job search reactively, often applying broadly without a clear sense of how to position themselves. We will work together to think intentionally about your approach, starting with understanding what you bring, how you communicate it, and where it fits.
From there, we work through the practical pieces, including resumes, LinkedIn, networking, interviewing, negotiating, and more, so you can proactively move forward with more focus and direction.
Moving Forward
& Next Steps
Even When Things Are Uncertain... We Work Together To Move Forward
You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. I can help you move forward in a way that feels grounded, manageable, and right for you. This may mean identifying what matters most and focusing on the next step, rather than trying to map out the entire path at once.
From there, we work together so you can move forward with more clarity and confidence.

Who I Work With
A Thoughtful Approach to Career Coaching
Diane A. Safer, PhD
Career Coach & Founder, DAS Consulting
I’m Diane A. Safer, PhD, founder of DAS Career Coach and DAS Consulting.
I work with individuals who are trying to figure out what’s next. This can be anything from choosing a direction or navigating a transition to moving forward with more clarity and confidence.

I understand how complex and personal these decisions can be, and I go about this work with perspective and care. My approach is both reflective and practical. I help you make sense of what matters to you (your interests, values, and strengths) so you can identify a path that truly fits, rather than following one that simply seems like the “right” choice. From there, we focus on how to move forward in a way that feels manageable, intentional, and aligned.

I bring nearly 15 years of experience in career and professional development, along with years of experience in business. I have worked with a wide range of individuals, from undergraduate students to mid-career professionals, and I have particular experience supporting PhDs and postdoctoral scholars as they navigate complex career decisions. I also bring a personal understanding of career change and transition, having made thoughtful career transitions myself, including launching my own business.

I also write regularly about career development as the author of the “Wisdom from the Workplace” column in Eye on Psi Chi magazine, where I focus on the realities of navigating work and professional life.

I earned my B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (Go Badgers!) and my M.A. and Ph.D. in social psychology from Columbia University.
Thoughtful, practical support as you figure out what’s next.
